The walk is an extended version of the City Walk Programme through which you will explore the street life of the Oldest Living City of Delhi from our guides lens of perspective.
‘Exploring Shahjahanabad’ is all about unravelling the rich history, architecture, heritage, scared places, markets and stories of street life of Old Delhi. Almost 400 years of continued habitation and history packed into 6.1 sq. kilometres, this pocket of land has seen it all, from the zenith of Mughal rule, India’s First War of Independence, the sure and steady takeover of Delhi by the British, culminating in India’s independence in 1947. Apart from the grandeur of what remains of its architectural splendour, the city also showcases an array of traditional art, craft, beliefs and practices.
What to expect in the walk: Various layers of markets, sacred places, food stalls, heritage, Rickshaw Ride, cultural stops and visit to Shelter Home. Let’s explore the city’s features of unaccounted built heritage, glistening bazaars, interesting and complex built forms and an extravagant culture.
